Bao’s is an independent bakery in Norwich, Norfolk started by us – Joshua and Charlie – and lovingly named after our cat, Bao.

We make fresh, small-batch bakes and spend a lot of time getting our recipes exactly how we want them. We like to experiment, whether that’s trying new flavours and ingredients or taking inspiration from recipes from around the world and making them our own.

A lot of what we make comes from playing around with ideas we’d love to eat ourselves – things like jam and custard doughnuts, lemon and olive oil loaf cake, or brown butter, dark chocolate and sea salt cookies, alongside reimagined favourites.

We care about what goes into our bakes and like to be open about how we work, sharing the process as well as the end result. We’ve even started growing our own edible flowers and herbs in our little kitchen garden to use in what we make.
